“Modern specialty coffee has been heavily influenced, if not defined, by offerings from Ethiopia. My first cup of specialty coffee ever was a washed process from Worka, and my life truly hasn’t been the same since. The blueberries and jam, the bergamots and black teas, the depth and complexity that only Ethiopian coffees have truly sets them apart, and in the case of this offering, none of that brilliance was lost to the process of decaffeination.
This offering was purchased by Cafe Imports directly from a decaffeination plant which did not provide much information as to its specific origin. But judging by its prevalent mixed berry profile and creamy mouthfeel its safe to say this offering consists of the Ethiopian Heirloom varietal with other landrace varietals mixed in, and likely hails from Southwestern regions of Yirgacheffe or Guji, both of which are known for producing highly berry forward coffees.
Traceability is a high priority for me here at Smooth Coffee Co, and as this business grows I intend to develop it into a strictly direct trade roastery. Those who produce this incredible agricultural product deserve to have their work known and respected, and I will advocate for that from now until forever. In the meantime, this is a delicious cup of decaf coffee, and I hope you enjoy.
With love,
Noah
